  • Prioritising Farm Management System Options

Prioritising Farm Management System options

FAR has developed a simple electronic survey (decision tool) to help you identify which online Farm Management Systems (FMS) are best suited to you and your farm business.

The survey tool takes you through a series of questions about which FMS features are most important to you. Once the questions are answered, it will provide a list of available systems, ranked in order from most likely to align with your stated preferences, to least likely to align.

Use the list to inform further investigations then make your final decision. Take your time and do some forward thinking. FMS options are many and varied, for example not all are designed for, or integrate with arable farming, let alone New Zealand arable farming. With requirements for Farm Environment Plans, N-Cap reporting, and buyer demands on the increase, choosing the best FMS for your current and future farming needs is important. You don’t want to be going through this exercise again in a couple of years’ time.

How to use the tool…

  1. Click the link below (you may get a message asking if you trust the source, say Yes)
  2. Enter your name and email – you will get an email that will validate the link and allow you to start the survey.
  3. There’s a guided tour option, which could click through, or hit the x in the top corner to skip it.
  4. You’ll then be asked to select up to 12 features that are important to you. Once you’ve done that, the comparison questions will begin.
  5. As each comparison pops up, choose one option or another. The system allows you to change your mind and restart from the beginning, go back one step, skip a step, or comment.
  6. At the end you’ll be given a ranked list that is mostly likely to align with your preferred features.
  7. Then a couple of questions for FAR at the end, and you’re done.

We hope the insights will be helpful.
