We’re looking forward to seeing you next week for our Premier Maize Field day on February 14 2023!
Gates open at 9.45am, with a welcome from our CEO Alison Stewart at 10am.
We’re excited to welcome keynote speaker Professor Fred Below from the University of Illinois.
Prof Below will speak twice during the day on emerging trends in the USA and on what the latest maize research is teaching us.
Other topics to be covered on the day include cover crops, the impacts of maize establishment on soil quality, precision ag and sensor technology. There will be a "planting green' demonstration, with lunch and a light dinner and drinks provided.
Speakers include FAR researcher Dirk Wallace on reducing nitrogen inputs, AgResearch scientist Trevor James on cover crops for weed management, David Densley on precision agriculture for maize productivity and quality and FAR’s technology manager Chris Smith on sensor technology. FAR’s Abie Horrocks will discuss long-term crop establishment and some of the impacts that cultivation has on soil structure and water infiltration.
