Key Points
In the only trials to date on the use of autumn applied fungicides on perennial ryegrass cultivar Samson, fungicide application:
- significantly increased the dry matter yield of ryegrass in the autumn,
- reduced the dry matter % of the grass and increased the visually assessed feed value,
- reduced the disease incidence on the leaf tissue, and
- for one treatment there was a small positive MOCC.
Farmers need to be mindful that these are the results from one detailed trial on single cultivar, in a single season and further research is needed to confirm these trends across seasons, cultivars, species and locations.
