FAR supports a flexible approach to environmental management, aligning risk assessments with suitable actions that optimise environmental outcomes for farms while minimising the impact on the farm business. The strategy recognises the vital role cropping farmers play in their communities. It acknowledges that while farmers must adopt environmentally protective practices to secure market access it is also to safeguard their right to farm. The strategy divides research between the following inter-related programmes.
