  • Far Welcomes New Research Institute

FAR welcomes new research institute

Feature placeholder

The recent merger of HortResearch and Crop & Food Research should provide new science opportunities for the Foundation for Arable Research (FAR).

The institute, now known as Plant & Food Research will combine the knowledge and expertise of the two CRIs which will be of benefit to New Zealand arable farmers through continued research and extension activities.
Nick Pyke, FAR’s Chief Executive is looking forward to the benefits that will be associated with this merger. “FAR has worked closely with Crop & Food Research over the years in developing and implementing research initiatives and looks forward to continuing this partnership with Plant & Food Research. The collaboration of scientists from both organisations will give FAR access to a wide range of skills, particularly in the areas of pollination and soil science, which may have been more difficult to capture through the two separate organisatons.
“Using the skills from the new institute for current and upcoming research initiatives will assist FAR in ensuring that the New Zealand arable industry continues to thrive and be a major contributor to the New Zealand economy.”
