Next month will see FAR's research staff conducting the 2010 series of Autumn Agronomy Update meetings
The FAR Autumn Agronomy Updates are set up to allow New Zealand arable farmers to find out more on the latest research results, covering; cereals, herbage, oilseeds and vegetable crops. They also act as discussion forums allowing farmers to openly debate how these different agronomic strategies may influence their own agronomy during the coming season.
Each event will be tailored to the region allowing the audience to decide which amongst the many topics was of specific interest to them.
Topics will include:
- So what kind of season did we have? - A brief harvest review.
- Faba beans - when should we sow them and how does that affect crop structure and agronomy?
- Cultivar Performance in 2009 - cost versus reward for fungicide application.
- Ryegrass seed production - is there potential to reduce our PGR costs?
- Autumn sown oilseed rape - what are the key factors determining yield and quality?
- Moving onto the 2nd year following the grass phase - influence of cultivation strategy on crop yield.
