Congratulations to Ross Hanson, FAR’s 2013 Researcher of the Year.
With a career spanning forty years in arable research Ross has made a huge contribution to field crop agronomy in New Zealand, particularly in Canterbury. He has worked on numerous research projects with FAR, and has been instrumental in the success of the Cultivar Performance Trials (CPT), New Zealand’s national cultivar testing system for cereals.
FAR CEO Nick Pyke says Mr Hanson has also been a key field research provider in his own right, providing independent field research results of the highest quality on a wide range of research project.
“Ross has one of those rare qualities of being able to link advances in science with its relevance to growers at the grass roots level. While we wish him well in his upcoming retirement, his contribution in this field will be sorely missed.”
Ross received his Researcher of the Year Award from Jo Goodhew, Associate Minister for Primary Industries at FAR’s Arable Research in Action (ARIA) field day at Chertsey on Wednesday 4 December, 2013.
