Moisture probe trial at Kowhai Farm

2024 moisture probe install 2

As of 14 Feb 2025 this trial is now over for the 2024-2025 season. But it will be back later in the year, keep an eye out for updates.

The moisture probe trial is back for 2024-25 season. We have moisture probes from different providers installed at our Kowhai Farm research site in Lincoln.

Growers are invited to log into the companies' portals to check out what the moisture probe readings look like and how easy it is to understand the information to make management decisions.

Use the grid below to access the companies' logins for the moisture probe data.

See the report from last year's trial here.

Watch our video on what to consider when choosing your moisture probes here.

Intensive winter grazing: Permitted Activity or Resource Consent?

A Permitted Activity rule outlines conditions that must be met to operate without a consent. If your activity meets all of those conditions, you don’t need council authorisation, and are not required to notify us of the activity. By answering all of the questions below, you can determine whether intensive winter grazing would be a permitted activity on your farm, or whether you would need a resource consent.
