New FAR podcast: Cut the Crop!

Feature placeholder

This week the Foundation for Arable Research (FAR) launched ‘Cut the Crop!’, New Zealand’s first podcast dedicated to arable farming and arable farmers.

Hosted by FAR CEO, Dr Alison Stewart, new episodes of ‘Cut the Crop!’, featuring researchers, growers and industry people, will be released each Sunday.

Listeners will be kept up to date with the latest and greatest in arable, including crop-specific information, environmental management tips and wider industry issues.

FAR Communication Manager Anna Heslop says a recent FAR grower survey indicated a strong demand for more digitally accessible resources and tools.

“Podcasting was the next natural step, granting growers access to the knowledge of researchers and other experts through their digital devices, with the ability to listen in from the comfort of the ute or tractor cab.

“The launch coincides with FAR’s 25th anniversary and the debut episode will feature past and present CEOs, Nick Pyke and Alison Stewart, journeying back to the early days of FAR, highlighting successes to date, as well as some current challenges and what the future might look like. Other upcoming episodes of 'Cut the Crop!' will feature FAR researchers and industry guests, discussing everything from cereal cultivar selection to the nitrogen cycle.”

FAR is working alongside Sarah Perriam, agricultural broadcaster and recent founder of Perriam Media, to produce 'Cut the Crop!' in her new multi-camera recording studio based in the Blinc Innovation offices at Lincoln University.

“The beauty of this setup is that we get all the interviews in video, as well as podcast, format, allowing growers to follow 'Cut the Crop!' in the way they feel most comfortable.”

The first episode of ‘Cut the Crop!’ will be released at 1.00pm on Sunday 15th March.

Subscribe to the ‘Cut the Crop!’ channel on the Apple Podcast Store, Google Play or Spotify to receive weekly episodes.

Episodes are also available to listen and watch at www.cutthecrop.co.nz.
