FAR's Arable Regional Groups (ARGs) are an essential part of our communication with growers. The ARGs serve as a forum to discuss regional issues or concerns, and to pass those issues on to FAR staff or the FAR Board as appropriate. FAR has seven regions throughout New Zealand, and each has an aligned ARG:Northern North Island (NNI), South Western North Island (SWNI), Eastern North Island (ENI), Northern South Island (NSI), Mid Canterbury (MC),South Canterbury-North Otago (SCNO) and South Otago Southland (SOS).
How do you become a member?
Current ARG Reps shall nominate members from within their ARG members when a position becomes vacant.If you would like to be part of the ARG, please contact your local ARG Chair (Board member), and a formal nomination process will take place.
Term of ARG representatives
ARG Representative may serve up to four terms of three years.
- Keep FAR up to date around issues such as changes in farm ownership or operation in their area.
- Talk with farmers in their region to identify issues that may benefit from research or extension activities.
- Attend FAR events where ever possible and encourage colleagues to attend.
- Provide feedback on FAR activities from their own, or friends and colleagues' experience.
