August 2009 saw FAR's research staff on tour throughout the country conducting the 2009 series of Spring Agronomy Update meetings. The FAR Spring Agronomy Updates are set up to allow our arable farmers to find out more on the latest research results, covering; cereals, herbage, oilseeds and vegetable crops. They also act as discussion forums allowing farmers to openly debate how these different agronomic strategies might influence their own agronomy during the coming season.
Each event was tailored to the region allowing the audience to decide which amongst the many topics was of specific interest to them. Over 200 farmers attended these seven events in Ashburton, Cheviot, Christchurch, Gore and Timaru in the South Island and Bulls and Gladstone in the North Island.
