  • White Clover Weed Management Field Day Revisit

Events White clover weed management field day (revisit)

FAR x SIRC
Field Day

Wednesday 10 December, 11am - 2:30pm, Methven.

Join us on-farm for a follow-up field day revisiting two SIRC-funded trials focused on improving weed control in white clover seed crops. This is an opportunity to see how the trials have progressed and to discuss the latest results and learnings from the season.

Morning Session – 11 am - 12:30pm

Hosted on the farm of Ron and Ian Hydes, this session will be led by FAR Researcher Sean Weith and will explore herbicide options for managing broadleaf weeds in establishing first-year white clover seed crops. Trial results will highlight how the timing of winter applications influences herbicide performance and crop safety across different growth stages, including flower development.

Afternoon Session – 1 pm  - 2:30pm

Hosted on the farm of Ian Maw, this session, also led by Sean Weith, will focus on early winter herbicide strategies for controlling sow thistle, a persistent challenge in white clover seed crops. The trial demonstrates how product selection and application timing can make a significant difference in winter weed management outcomes.
