Working with Beef + Lamb New Zealand

Feature placeholder

B+LNZ have asked FAR to help them find 10 new respondents to join their annual farm survey programme.

Stock finishing is an important component of a mixed arable system and it is estimated that 15% of South Island prime lambs are finished on these farms. B+LNZ have asked FAR to help them find ten new respondents to join their annual farm survey programme.

B+LNZ have conducted a continuous farm survey since 1950 with more than 500 farms participating. They collect information from different classes of farm and the B+LNZ class 8 category is for mixed cropping with a livestock component. Survey results are used to report on beef and sheep production, to support forecasts and policymaking, and to help farmers and others make informed decisions to build the sustainability of their businesses and the sector.

The following criteria are used for selecting class 8 farms in the South Island

  • Sub-total revenue (livestock + crop) must be greater than $50,000.
  • Government farms are excluded.
  • South Island regions only.

Find out more information about the B+LNZ survey.

If you are interested in joining the B+LNZ survey, meet their criteria, and would like more information please contact Tim Hembrow directly.
