The FAR Arable Research Sites host a number of research trials and field days every year.
FAR appreciates that not everyone is able to attend the scheduled field days. The FAR Arable Research Sites therefore aim to provide visitors with a representation of FAR funded research at a 'one-stop' field site. Should any visitors wish to discuss any of the trials in more detail, they are welcome to contact the FAR office to be put into contact with the relevant Project Manager.
The Northern Crop Research Site at Tamahere, just outside Hamilton, hosts a number of maize, forage and other trials, including a long term cultivation trial. A summary of trials undertaken at the site in the 2014-15 year can be found in the following publication.
FAR has two research sites; one in the heart of the Waikato (see map below) and one in Mid Canterbury.
