Peas

Peas are a very important crop to growers as they provide a valuable spring sown break crop. The benefits of using peas in arable crop rotations include enhanced soil fertility and structure and control of soil-borne cereal fungal diseases.

PROJECTS

Understanding pea yields

FAR has been working to identify possible agronomist and management factors that influence pea yields. Current research includes monitoring growers across the Canterbury region and replicated trials at the Chertsey Arable Site that allow us to closely monitor crop agronomy and management practices such as water use, canopy development and soil and foliar diseases.
